Fundraising has its own dates

The fundraising period is deliberately separate from the event dates, and normally starts earlier and ends later.

Donations keep arriving for weeks after the activity finishes. Closing the window on the event end date turns away money people are actively trying to give you.

If a donate button is missing, check this period before anything else.

Four kinds of recipient

The platform distinguishes who a donation is going to, and each can be configured separately:

  • The event host — a straight donation to the organisation.
  • Themselves — a participant seeding their own fundraising page.
  • Another individual — sponsoring a friend.
  • A team — supporting a group.

They are configured separately because they read differently. Someone sponsoring a friend needs different wording from someone donating to a charity directly.

Given and received are not the same

A participant's page shows donations received. That is not the same as donations they made, and the two are stored differently.

This matters whenever you are correcting data: acting on the wrong one removes somebody else's donation history. If you are unsure which you are looking at, stop and check.
