What TogoActive is
TogoActive is a platform for running participation events — the kind where people sign up, do something physical over a period of days or weeks, and get ranked, rewarded or sponsored for it.
A single event on TogoActive can include any combination of:
- A public website on your own domain, built from pages you control.
- Registration, free or paid, with a signup form you design.
- Merchandise — jerseys, medals, bibs — sold during signup or afterwards.
- Activity tracking through Strava, feeding a live leaderboard.
- Fundraising — donation pages, pledges and progress towards a goal.
- Achievements that unlock automatically when someone hits a milestone.
- Email that goes out on triggers you configure.
You will not use all of it. Most events use three or four of these, and the rest stay switched off.
The two halves
Everything you do happens in one of two places, and it helps to keep them straight.
The admin panel at v3.togoactive.com is where you work. Nobody outside your team sees it. You configure the event here.
The event website is what your participants see — on your own domain once you have connected one. Everything on it comes from what you set in the admin panel.
The connection between them is not always instant. Some changes appear the moment you save; others are picked up on a schedule. Where that matters, the page covering that feature says so.
Events are configured, not built
There is no code involved in running an event. Every part of the product is driven by settings, and the settings are grouped into the sections you see down the left of the admin panel.
The consequence worth internalising: the defaults are chosen for you when you pick an event mode, and most of them are correct. You are not expected to visit all 100-plus settings. The first event checklist names the handful that genuinely need your attention.
Event modes
The single most consequential choice you make is the event mode, set in Setup → General. It decides which features are switched on by default and which parts of the product are relevant to you at all.
| Mode | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Standard | A one-off event with fixed start and end dates. |
| Seasonal | Several sub-events, or "seasons", running under one parent event. |
| Donation | A fundraising-focused event, where pledges and donation flows are the point. |
Mode is hard to change once people have registered, because it has already decided the shape of their signup and what their profile pages show. Pick it deliberately at the start — General settings covers each mode in full.
Where to go next
- The event lifecycle — the phases an event moves through and what changes at each.
- Roles and access — who on your team can see and change what.
- Finding your way around — the admin panel's layout and shortcuts.
