How an activity becomes a ranking
- A participant connects their Strava account.
- They record an activity there. They upload nothing to you.
- The platform imports it on a schedule.
- If it qualifies, it counts towards their totals and the leaderboard.
An activity qualifies when both are true:
- Its date falls between Event Starts and Event Ends.
- Its type is one your event counts.
Nearly every "my ride is not showing" report is one of those two, and the first is the more common.
Updates are not instant
The leaderboard refreshes on a schedule. A few minutes of lag is normal and not a fault.
Different things refresh at different rates — activity totals update more often than gallery and photo content, so photos visibly lag distances.
Tell participants this in advance
Put the delay in your FAQ before the event starts. It costs one sentence and removes a large, repetitive category of support email from people who finished a ride four minutes ago.
Before the event starts
Confirm syncing works with a real activity from a real connected account, during the event window. Do not wait for day one to find out that nothing counts.
