The donation form

Where: Donations → Donation Config

What donors see, and what they are allowed to do. A live preview sits beside the settings.

Common form settings

Behaviour shared across all four recipient types — host, self, another individual and team. Set these once; the per-recipient copy is configured separately.

Currency

Currency Code and Currency Symbol appear on every donation page.

They must match what your payment account actually settles in. A form showing one currency while the account charges in another produces amounts that do not match what donors expected, and disputes follow.

Suggested and custom amounts

Suggested amounts do most of the work — most donors pick one rather than typing a figure. Choose them deliberately: they anchor what people give.

Allow custom amount lets donors type their own. Leave it on. Turning it off caps your most generous donors at your highest suggestion, which is exactly the wrong constraint.

Anonymous donations

Allow anonymous donations lets donors give without their name shown publicly. The donation still counts towards all totals.

Leave it on. Some people give more when they are not named, and the alternative is that they do not give.

Calls to action

CTA title and CTA description sit above the form.

Be concrete about what the money does. "Support our riders" raises less than a sentence explaining what a specific amount actually funds. Donors respond to consequences, not causes.

The success page

Back link text and the share copy control what happens after a donation completes.

The copy above the share buttons matters more than it appears. Someone who has just donated is the most likely person in the world to bring you another donor — but only if you ask them at that moment, on that page.

Tax deduction details

Where donors need a receipt, tax deduction details are collected against the payment, and a minimum qualifying amount can be set per event.

Get this right before launch if it applies to you. Collecting the details retrospectively means contacting every donor individually, and many will not reply.

Testing

Make a real donation to each recipient type you have enabled — host, yourself, another participant, a team. Confirm:

  • The amount and currency charged are right.
  • The donation appears against the correct recipient.
  • The event and participant totals both increase.
  • The receipt or acknowledgement arrives.

Totals not moving after a donation is the classic symptom worth catching in testing rather than on launch day.
