The one thing to get right

Test with a real card before you launch. A live test payment is the only proof that money reaches the account you believe it does. Register from the public site, pay, and confirm the transaction appears against the right account.

Discovering this after a hundred real registrations is a very different afternoon from discovering it after one.

Only successful payments are money

Every payment carries a status. Successful means the money moved. Pending and failed do not, and no figure you report — revenue, registration counts, conversion — should count them.

This matters more than it sounds, because a pending payment looks like a registration in almost every other respect. If your revenue figure does not match your payment provider's, this is nearly always why.
